五种通

Five kinds of supernatural power:

(1) 道通 of bodhisattvas through their insight into truth;

(2) 神通 of arhats through their mental concentration;

(3) 依通 supernatural or magical powers dependent on drugs, charms, incantations, etc.;

(4) 報通 or 業通 reward or karma powers of transformation possessed by (sa) devas, (sa) nāgas, etc.;

(5) 妖通 magical power of goblins, satyrs, etc.
